Text Box Troubles...

TeeNado58's picture

Hello - I am using Excel 2007 and on some of my files I notice that the slow way down when I try to change any data in the cells.  While trying to find the casue of this slowdown I use the Page Layout tab and then Selection Pane and the window that opens shows many Text Boxes that I have not placed in this spreadsheet.  It takes a few minutes to delete all of these text boxes and then save the workbook and all is fine.  But I would like to know how these text boxes pop up and why.  Has anyone had this same problem?

Thank you so very much for any assistance!

slow to change cells

the most likely cause of your spreadsheet being slow when you change cells is because you have a volatile function which is the precedent to other cells that calculate based off its value.

If the main problem here is that the spreadsheet is slow, try turning calculation to manual, and then calculate when you need to by pressing F9

To turn calculation to manual:

  1. Office button (top left of Excel)
  2. Excel options (bottom right)
  3. Formulas
  4. Choose Manual calculation
