Problem with Pivot Table column data appearing in pivot table charts...
Ok, i have this problem that i can not figure out for the life of me.
I have a pivot table. In the row data i have the months. No problem here.
In the column data I have projects and in the data fields are the costs of those projects. Again, no problem here.
Suppose i have 4 columns in the pivot table labeled Project A, Project B, Project C and Project D. again, no problem here.
I create a pivot chart based on the table data fine. The chart is a shale, or area chart with stacked areas on on the other.
I want to them to appear in the same order as they do in the pivot table...
however they do not. Instead of stacking them on top in order from A to D, i get something like A, D, C, B.
I have tried moving the columns within the pivot table (by clicking and dragging the name header) to try to rearrange the order. It does work, and some kind of updated order is in the pivot shale chart, but the order is not the same as the order of the columns.
Does anyone understand this problem? Several people at my work have this same issue, and no one seems to figure out what the problem is.
I hope you'll understand my
I hope you'll understand my explanation, as I only use a Dutch version of Excel. Your problem can be solved:
1. for Excel 2010: Click the File tab.
3.Click Excel Options.
4.Click Advanced, and then under General Edit Custom Lists.
5.If the list "January, February etc. does not exist, click in the window Data in new list.
6. Enter the months, separated by a comma.
7. Click OK
When you have created your pivottable, click on the filter of the field Month (of your pivottable), and choose More (sorting) options; click on the button More options, and select the list (you just have made).
The field month is now in the correct order. Your graphic based on this pivot will show the correct order of the months too.
