Importing email customer service changes into Excel workflow worksheet

Hi,

My son is a logistician for a company that provides regular home delivery of food to their customers. The customers place their orders periodically and the company prepares and delivers the food. Often however, the customers will make last minute changes to their order (or cancel/re-route) the delivery. This currently requires a manual reading of the emailed change request and then a manual change to the Excel workflow worksheet that the dispatchers and drivers rely on to make their deliveries. It seems to me that there must be a way to route the change emails into a conversion utility that would automatically update/populate the Excel spreadsheet. Can you offer any suggestions on how this might be accomplished? Many thanks in advance.
