Converting Text

Hi All

I am new to this forum, hoping some-one can help.

I have imported text from another program into excel. When I try to use formulae on the text they dont work. e.g Vlookup and countif. I am definitely using the correct syntax. How can I resolve this problem? I have attached sample spreadsheet.

Hello,

There is actually no problem with the formula or syntax. But your data contain one additional space character at the end - "ALBERT HALL " - and in your formula you search for "ALBERT HALL" without that space at the end. You can use TRIM, LEFT or RIGHT function to remove unnecessary space characters. Of course you can also change your criterion to such with additional space at the end.
