Paste from one file into another with different cell range

Hello,

I have two excel docs, one showing a general diary of monthly events used by all staff,
I need to copy this diary into a new document that has extra lines inserted for more specific
staff info, not shared by everyone. How can I do this without excel nagging about incorrect destination cell areas??

For eg:
Doc 1

A1 - Mon
A2 - Tue
A3 - wed

etc....

Doc 2

A1 - Mon
A2 - mon Staff on duty
A3 - Tue
A4 - tue staff on duty
A5 - Weds

etc...

vlookup

instead of copying and pasting, why don't you just do a vlookup ?

- this allows you to map a set of data to another using a common heading.
