68. Excel Tips - Separate Text

This tip shows you a quick and easy way to separate text without using formulae. Suppose we have the following data:

 Separate-Text

and we want this:

Separate-Text

Steps:

  1. Select the range containing the data
  2. Select the Data ribbon
  3. Text to columns
  4. Choose Delimited
  5. Press Next
  6. Choose: Space, and in Other, type: /
  7. Click Finish

This data will now be split... You can choose whatever delimiter you want... in this case we chose "/" and space, but it can be any character.
